A convoy finance timeline

As the parliamentary review committee continues its work and we get closer to the start date for the mandated inquiry, I thought it would be useful to consider a timeline of key events. This is a tool I often use to “sort” datapoints for analysis. In this case, I think it’s a useful tool, particularly when we think about effects and outcomes of the emergency measures applied against the financing of the convoy.

Need some background on the convoy? Here’s everything I’ve written to date:

  1. Convoy Finance: Funding Protest

  2. Convoy Finance: Sharing the Wealth

  3. Convoy Finance: Digging in and diversifying away from GoFundMe

  4. Convoy Finance: Creating Corporate Structures

  5. Convoy Finance: Foreign Funding and Influence

  6. Convoy Finance: Countering the Financing of Mischief

  7. Convoy Finance: Emergencies Act Edition

The original crowdfunding campaign was launched on 14 January by Tamara Lich. The campaign attracted a fair bit of attention from the get-go, managing to raise more than $2 million in its first ten days of operations.

However, after the 23rd of January, the campaign picks up serious steam and starts to raise over $1 million per day in advance of the convoy’s arrival in Ottawa on the 28th of January.
