It depends a lot on the definition of 'left wing' and 'right wing'.

In Canada recently there seems to be more left-wing violence than right wing, so I have doubts about the validity of the study.

The CSIS article has a lot of problems, not the least being its tone. It's not scholarly, and it's not neutral. Not everything has to be, but don't pretend to be what you aren't. This is an op-ed essay.

The piece doesn't share much information. There's not a lot of data in their data. They're also glossing over "right-wing terrorism" that leads to death to an uncomfortable degree. School shootings in the US, for instance, are acts of terrorism primarily carried out by conservative men. The article omits any reference of this. The definition of "left-wing terrorism" is also amusing, especially when taken in comparison. It also tosses in a nice bit of racism by referencing the "immigrant threat."
