The Order of Nine Angles (O9A) is an organization infamous for its connections to the extreme right, pedophilia, and satanism. The group encourages its members to infiltrate societal institutions and ultimately perpetrate acts of extreme violence. For example, earlier this year O9A member Ethan Melzer was sentenced to 45 years in prison for attempting to murder US military personnel and for illegally providing national defense information to the O9A. The organization has further influenced the activities of several violent neo-Nazi extremist groups, including the Atomwaffen Division, and the Sonnenkrieg Division. While several books have been written on the group’s beliefs and rituals, very little is known about O9A’s operations or finances. Nonetheless, there are some insights available on the group’s organizational and operational financial activities.
Origins and Operations
British neo-Nazi David Myatt established the O9A in the early 1970s. After decades of relative inactivity, the group came out of the fringes in 2008 when Myatt began publishing O9A’s doctrines online. Ultimately, the group encourages violence with the aim of creating a new society based on racism, satanism, and fascism.
The group’s established base is in the UK, although it operates in various countries around the world. Due to its decentralized nature, there are no reliable estimates of O9A’s membership– although most sources acknowledge that it is a very small organization. Many of the crimes conducted by members are generally encouraged and inspired by O9A’s writings, but are not planned by or necessarily associated with the organization directly.
