Hello, Insight Monitor subscribers! I’m very excited to share that our new course on Financial Intelligence Sources is almost ready and will be launching on 4 November.
This course builds on Financial Intelligence Fundamentals and delves deeper into the world of financial intelligence. We examine closed (classified) and open sources, including publicly available information, open but restricted sources (commercially available information), leaked data, and much more.
This course is specifically for anyone involved in FININT and OSINT: researchers, compliance professionals (in banks, social media companies, financial platforms, and anyone in a compliance role), intelligence professionals, law enforcement, policy makers (including oversight and review bodies!), investigators, and people interested in being able to check facts themselves.
I spent months preparing this course to reflect everything I know about where to find financial intelligence, its utility, and the limitations of many of those sources. It’s comprehensive, challenging, and unlike training you’ll find anywhere else.
The course offers 40 (!!) lessons and includes two hours of audio and video. Our beta testers tell us it takes about two weeks to complete (20 hours), and we’ve scheduled the content to unlock over the course of that time to maximize your learning potential.
Exercises: I believe in experiential learning, so I’ve designed exercises that use real-world examples. You’ll be asked to find the true beneficial owner of a football club, the companies involved in Russian propaganda networks, the companies owned by sanctioned individuals, and much more.
Intelligence production: You’ll be exposed to real-world financial data and information and asked to add context to turn it into intelligence.
Community: To help you hone your FININT expertise, I’ve also created an online community where you can share sources, tips, information, and analysis to enhance your open-source FININT abilities. I’ll be in that community offering concrete guidance and feedback.
