In the afternoon of 10 June 2025, someone wearing a long black trench coat, a hat and a mask with a long beak and wielding a sword stalked the halls of Neelin High School in Brandon, Manitoba. At first, students thought it was a joke, but it quickly became clear that the masked figure was out for blood. He attacked 15-year-old student Chinonso Onuke, nearly severing seven of his fingers, and badly injuring him with stab wounds to his chest, forearms, hands and thighs.
