Hello Insight Monitor subscribers! Today we’re continuing our analysis of Canada’s white power ecosystem with a look at identitarian groups in Canada. While these groups have largely ceased activity in recent years, many of their members likely remain active or interested in the broader white power ecosystem in Canada. As with many of these groups, infighting seems to have plagued their organization and limited the reach of their activities. Read to learn more about this movement, and whether they’ll re-organize and re-group to continue their disruptive activities:

Identitarian Groups
The Identitarian Movement is an international white nationalist network that emerged from the broader “alt-right” movement and growing anti-Muslim and anti-immigrant sentiments in Europe. In Canada, the movement was notably represented by the group Generation Identity Canada. Eventually, Generation Identity Canada split off from Generation Identity Canada to become ID Canada, which grew across Canada until it declined and seemingly collapsed in 2020. The group clashed with other white nationalists, including the British Columbia-based Identitarian group Northern Identity, and eventually a lengthy undercover investigation by the Canadian Anti-Hate Network forced its members underground.
